About the project
The Römerstadt metro station in Frankfurt am Main has been rebuilt handicapped accessible and technically modernised since 2021. Being part of the 1971 opened A-line – the oldest of Frankfurt’s three routes –it received also a modern lighting concept in the course of the current renovation work. LMT GmbH supplied the type 2119 media channel with a square cross-section with flush integrated loudspeakers, platform luminaires of the type VARYO III with tunable white LEDs, as well as lateral light inserts for ceiling and wall illumination to emphasize the building structure. The light colour of the platform luminaires is tunable from 2700 K warm white to 5700 K cold white by means of DALI control, to give passengers a pleasant and safe feeling especially during the long winter evenings and night hours. VGF certainly plays a pioneering role in terms of “Human Centric Lighting on the platform”. We are pleased about this successful renovation, which builds a wide arc through time: built on the remains of a Roman settlement – currently equipped with one of the most modern lighting concepts.

VARYO III is a ENEC-certified linear luminaire for the installation in lighting tubes and media channels.
Equipped with reflector, louvre and internal diffuser, VARYO III is glare-free and therewith perfectly suitable for platform applications. There are different variants configurable: with aluminium housing in two different lengths: 600 mm or 1200 mm, with tunable white light colour in the range of 2700 K warm white up to 5700 K cold white with CRI of 90+, as well as with symmetrical or asymmetrical light distribution. Therewith, the VARYO III perfectly adaptable to every use case.
The housing of VARYO III is closed towards the bottom with its sealing in the protected zone, so it doesn’t provide any target for vandalism and allows a quick installation and a safe plug-in connection. With its simple and cost-efficient maintenance, VARYO III is predestined for continuous operation.
The LMT media channel 2119 is made of extruded aluminium profile with a quadratic section 230 x 230 mm with an opening width of 200 mm. This channel is also available in half height, see system 2119-5.
The surface is available in powder coated with RAL or DB colours, as well as anodized E6/EV1.
Direct and indirect luminaires, loudspeakers and further equipment can be integrated flush. Its 3 internal cable trays provide space for the wiring of different utilities. This media channel is mounted by means of pendant tubes.
