Linear Multi-Service Channel Systems for Platforms: Lighting, Speakers, Cameras and Cable Management in One Profile

Multi-service channel systems combine multiple technical components and system functions within a single profile. They can be used on platforms, in train sheds, and in other areas of a station. Systems such as lighting, public address, video surveillance (CCTV), sensor technology, and cable management can be integrated to meet project-specific requirements. The multi-service channel system provides a defined location for each component within the profile. LMT tailors the design and technical configuration to the project’s specifications and manufactures the appropriate solution, including accessories.

Platform lighting and wayfinding in one system: notices, directional information or pictograms can be added to the multi-service channel system as backlit elements. This combines lighting and wayfinding in a single component. First of its kind on the market.

Multi-Service Channel System with Hinged Cover and Tool-Free Luminaire Installation

A hinged cover provides direct access to the cable duct for simplified maintenance and service work. The luminaires can be installed quickly and without tools. They connect without visible gaps, creating a continuous, harmonious line of light.

Multi-Service Channel Systems with Project-Specific System Integration

Luminaires, loudspeakers, cameras, sensors and cable management can be integrated into the multi-service channel system in accordance with the technical and design specifications. The system provides a defined position for each component within the profile.

For platforms, stairways, access areas and tunnels, LMT develops and manufactures project-specific LED lighting solutions – from platform luminaires and linear lighting systems to integrated handrail lighting systems and pathway luminaires for parapets. The systems are tailored to specific spatial, photometric, and structural requirements. They support safety, wayfinding, visual comfort, and are designed for long-term use in the rail environment.

Platform Luminaire VARYO III

Optimal glare control, symmetric or asymmetric light distribution, also available with tunable white: the VARYO III is designed as an LED luminaire module for installation in multi-service channel systems. A reflector, transverse louver grid, and internal diffuser enable precise light control.

Linear Lighting System

Standardized or project-specific: the linear lighting systems made from extruded aluminum profiles are manufactured in accordance with photometric and design specifications. The LED modules are available modular or project specific and can be replaced at any time. Mounting options include pendant suspension as well as ceiling or wall installation.

Integrated Handrail Lighting System

Safety, orientation and visual comfort in one system: luminaires flush-integrated into the handrail combine lighting and handrail function. The low mounting height enables efficient illumination of the circulation area and simplifies maintenance. Designed for a secure grip. Suitable for stairways, access areas, and tunnel escape routes.

LED Pathway Luminaires

Targeted pathway lighting with minimal glare. LED pathway luminaires designed for surface mounting or recessed installation illuminate walkways with a shallow light-emission angle and reduce glare. The low mounting height and a portion of the light dieted upwards improve the visibility of oncoming pedestrians. Variable mounting options, adaptable front covers, and replaceable LED units simplify integration and maintenance.

Components for Rail Vehicles – Certified Manufacturing to EN 15085-2 CL1- P

LMT manufactures metal components and project-specific custom fabrications for passenger cars and locomotives. Engineering and manufacturing are tailored to the technical requirements and the intended application in the rail vehicle.

Welded components for rail vehicles are manufactured in accordance with certification EN 15085-2 CL1, scope P.

Grab rail for a rail vehicle – designed and manufactured specifically for the project to provide a secure grip and withstand long-term use in daily rail operations.

Station Equipment in Aluminum and Stainless Steel – Standardized or Project-Specific

LMT develops and manufactures metal components and equipment elements for railway stations, transit facilities, and underpasses. Outdoor equipment elements are designed, depending on the application, for high mechanical loads and specific vandal-resistance requirements. Duisburg Central Station: Multi-Service Channel System for Different Installation Situations

Duisburg Central Station has been undergoing phased modernization since 2009. LMT supplied the standard multi-service channel system Type 2067. It combines lighting, loudspeakers and cabling in a single structure. The multi-service channel system is used in the main train shed and at the extended canopy roofs. The suspension and mounting components were adapted to the respective structural conditions. The DPB100 platform luminaire with emergency lighting module was supplied by Designplan Leuchten.

Römerstadt Metro Station, Frankfurt a. M.: Modernized Lighting with Tunable White

As part of the accessibility modernization of Römerstadt underground station, LMT supplied the multi-service channel system Type 2119. Loudspeakers and VARYO III luminaires with tunable white LEDs are flush-integrated. DALI control enables light colors from 2,700 to 5,700 Kelvin. Lateral light inserts additionally illuminate ceilings and walls, accentuating the building structure.

Waterloo Metro Station, Hannover: Modernization During Ongoing Operations

The Waterloo metro station in Hannover, opened in 1975, received a completely new lighting installation in 2026, commissioned by ÜSTRA. LMT installed VARYO III linear luminaires on the platform and concourse level and adapted the mounting system to the existing mounting rails from the original lighting installation. This allowed rapid luminaire replacement while the station remained in service. The new luminaires also fully close the openings in the fire-rated ceiling.
